Blackheath is established in the Blue Mountains Region in central New South Wales. It is ideally located about 110 km to the west of Sydney and about 45 km from Penrith, Windsor and Richmond which lie in the foothills of the mountains. Most of the Blue Mountains area is elevated about 1000 m above sealevel. Blackheath and nearby Katoomba have a wide range of entertainment and amusement options. Some of the most famous local events are the Blackheath Art Society`s various Competitions, Exhibitions and Art Festivals, and the Rhododendron Festival held every year in November. Blackheath has spectacular natural scenic features, stunning lookours and fabulous wilderness area for bushwalking, including: Evans Lookout and Govetts Leap that feature views over Grose Valley. Blackheath is the gateway to the renowned Grand Canyon Walk which features native woodlands, forests, tree ferns, moss encrusted logs in a stunning temperate rainforest habitat that is truly unique and pristine. This bushwalk s pass through tunnels carved through rocks, canyons, fern lined gullys, spectacular waterfalls and wonderful scenery of the dramatic cliffs and escarpments of Grose Canyon.
