What's on in Lilydale, Victoria


Lilydale is an outer suburb of Melbourne, located in the Yarra Valley Region about 358 km north-east from the Centre of Melbourne. It lies at the start of the Lilydale to Warburton Rail Trail and lies at the outer edge of the Melbourne suburban area. The 38km Warburton Rail trail for cyclists, campers, walkers and horse riders follows along the path of the historical railway line which was established in the 1900's to service the agricultural industry of the time. The local Yarra Ranges Regional Museum boosts stunning architectural design exhibition. It is set in tranquil surrounds, and features exhibition spaces, a museum shop, a resource library and a fine cafe. There are many wonderful cafes and restaurants featuring local produce and fine wines. Lilydale Lake is a renowned recreational area for many sports abd water based recreation. There is also a wetlands educational facility. Liyldale is located on Olinda Creek, a tributary of the Yarra River which has its headwaters in the Dandenong Ranges. The local Lilydale Airport is located in Yering 5km north of Lilydale. A campus of Swinburne University of Technology is located in Lilydale. Lilydale is a great pl;ace to stay and enjoy all the delights of the Yarra Valley.
