Pemberton is a tourist hub and timber town located about 3 hours drive from Perth in Western Australia's magical South West corner that is also world famous for its Valley of the Giants, fabulous wines, surf, forests, national parks, bushwalking and mountain bike trails. Pemberton is the habitat of the unique and famous karri tree, which has the reputation the highest tree in Western Australia. Local claim it is probably the 3rd highest hardwood tree in the entire world. The nearby Gloucester National Park contains three spectacular karri trees, that are over 60 m high - The Dave Evans Bicentennial Tree, The Gloucester Tree and The Diamond Tree. Each of these magnificent trees has a series of metal steps which allow willing visitors to climb the trees up to the lookout platforms high in the canopies. In Spring the Pemberton Forests come into bloom with a magical display of wildflowers that attracts thousands of visitors each year. You can discover the delights of the forest by hiking along the many bushwalking/mountain bike trails throughout the area. You can also explore the area via 4WD vehicles, guided tours or on horseback. You can also swim. and paddle a canoe or kayak along the local rivers and lakes. Go back in time and walk though the historic remains of the timber milling days in the area, ride a steam train, tour a timber mill and enjoy local wines and some Aboriginal bush tucker . You can also enjoy fishing for perch, trout, and marron and a charming picnic at Big Brook Dam and Beedelup Falls. Pemberton is a fantastic place to stay in the wide range of accommodation that provides a great base to explore the wonders of the south west including the delights the Valley of the Giants and the wine and surf at Margaret River. The area is very popular for mountain bikes with the Pemberton Mountain Bike Park facility close to town. The trailhead for the Pemberton Mountain Bike Park is located at the Pemberton Pool located on Swimming Pool Road Pemberton.
